On a bright and cheerful morning, our school was abuzz with vibrant colours, joyous laughter, and a sense of unity as we celebrated the auspicious occasion of Onam. The celebration was nothing short of spectacular, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.
The event was graced by our esteemed Principal Swamini Pavanamritha Prana who inaugurated the festivities by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The heart of the celebration was the beautifully crafted “Pookalam” (a flower rangoli) at the centre of our school ground. It was a kaleidoscope of colours and intricate patterns, embodying the spirit of Onam.
As the day unfolded, Chaitali Patil of Std. IX took the stage to enlighten us about the significance and history of Onam. One of the highlights of the event was a captivating skit performed by students from Std. VI to Std. IX. Theengaging performance of Vamana and Mahabali vividly portrayed the importance of Onam in Kerala’s cultural tapestry, which commemorates the return of the legendary King Mahabali.
The cultural extravaganza continued as girls from Std. VIII mesmerized the audience with their graceful performance of the traditional dance ‘Thiruvathira’.The synchronicity of their movements and the traditional costumes transported us to the heart of Kerala.
Our school’s Onam celebration was a testament to the spirit of unity, culture, and tradition. It allowed us to come together, learn and imbibe the rich heritage of Kerala.
