The air was charged with an atmosphere of patriotism and pride as Amrita Vidyalayam school celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day with unparalleled fervour and enthusiasm. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests Major General J.N Nayar, Principal Swamini Pavanamritha Prana and Vice-Principal Indulekha Jayashankar.

The programme commenced with a ceremonious flag hoisting ceremony by the distinguished chief guest Major General J.N Nayar. The fluttering Tricolour symbolized the unity and resilience of our great nation. As the National Anthem resonated through the air, every heart swelled with pride, echoing the sacrifices of countless heroes who had fought for India’s freedom. The soul stirring melodies of the Zenda Geet followed, evoking a sense of unity. A highlight of the programme was the captivating rendition of “Saare Jahan Se achha” by students from standard VIII to X. Their voices echoed the aspirations of a nation that continues to strive for progress and unity.

With a gracious introduction by Kala Miss, Major General J.N. Nayar was warmly welcomed and honoured for his dedication to the country. Adith Nair and Utsav Kumar of Standard VIII eloquently delivered speeches in English and Hindi respectively, reminding everyone of the importance of freedom, responsibility, and national pride.

The cultural extravaganza continued with a breathtaking patriotic dance performance by students of Std. VIII. In a beautiful display of physical and mental discipline, students from Std. II to VIII showcased various Yoga postures.

A pivotal moment arrived with the commencement of the prize distribution ceremony, an occasion to recognize the achievements of the students. The Tennikoit Association witnessed our young talents aged 12 and 15, not only participating but also clinching top honours in both the singles and doubles categories. However, the pinnacle was the victory of our students in the Inter School Football Competition, Subrata Mukherjee Cup 2023 under 14 boys category. Amongst 44 competing schools, Amrita Vidyalayam emerged victorious at the district level, earning the privilege to compete in the Inter Zonal matches held in Solapur. The indomitable spirit and teamwork of our students secured them the second place, leaving a mark on the sporting landscape. The medals were presented by our chief guest.

Our commitment to patriotism extended beyond, as our school participated in the online Patriotic Group Singing competition organized by PCMC and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Sangeet Academy. This endeavour bore fruit as the mellifluous voices of our students, a mix of young talents from the Std V to VII, secured the coveted 1st prize.

The event concluded on a high note, leaving everyone inspired, proud and grateful for the nation’s hard won freedom, and the school’s commitment to nurturing excellence, patriotism and sportsmanship.
