May the brave leaders of our glorious nation guide us to peace and prosperity, so that we can hold our heads high and be proud of our country. We salute the work they did for this country.
India won her freedom on the 15th of August 1947 and became a Republic on the 26th of January 1950. The new constitution of free India came into force with effect from this day. It is a day of national rejoicing and a red-letter day in our country. The day is celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit, throughout the length and breadth of the country.
The day was celebrated in our school with great eclat. The school building was tastefully decorated with rangoli, flower rangoli, pictures and national flags.
The chief guest Mr. Vasant Gokhale hoisted the National Flag. This was followed by the National anthem, Zenda Geet and a patriotic song by a team of students from classes IV to IX. Then our Vice-Principal Indulekha Jayshankar introduced the chief guest and he was honoured by our Principal Swamini Pavanamritha Prana. The chief guest then addressed the students and urged them to do their best and feel proud to be Indians.
The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the motherland through their speeches. We had an English speech delivered by Palavi Mane of Class-IX and a Hindi speech was delivered by Vedika Deshmukh of Class-IX.
The cultural event was kick started with a group dance performed by the girls of Std-XI which showcased the ‘The Unity in Diversity’ of India, followed by different Yogasanas. Then the students of Class–IX performed a human pyramid which is an acrobatic formation.
We had a prize distribution ceremony for H.S.C Toppers and for various winners of Inter School Competitions such as Drawing, Colouring, Hindi Essay, etc. Priya Margaj of Class-IX was awarded the ‘Best Sportsman Trophy’ in the Girls secondary section.
Finally, a vote of thanks was proposed by Sushma Miss. The celebration came to an end by singing the ‘Vande Mataram.’
Freedom in mind
Faith in words
Pride in our heart,
Memories in our souls,
Let’s salute the nation on Republic Day.
