Rajmata Jijau Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s mother, Jijabai Bhosale. She was born on January 12th , and the day is commemorated every year as Rajmata Jijau Jayanti, honouring her for her role in shaping Shivaji Maharaj’s life, the strong upbringing she gave him, and how it helped him become the great leader of the Maratha empire.
On the occasion of Rajmata Jijau Jayanti, we at Amrita Vidyalayam & Jr. College celebrated the day with great fervour. The speech on Jijau was delivered by Anushka Belsare of Class VII followed by the traditional Marathi art of storytelling – powada – on Jijamata. The powada was presented by students of classes V to VIII to mark the significance of Rajmata Jijau.
