“Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with excellence.”
If there is one field of life which teaches us the most valuable lessons about perseverance, patience, and what constitutes a perfect character, it is Sports.
On the 24th of January, Amrita Vidyalayam & Jr. College hosted its ‘Annual Sports Day’, a day filled with fervour and excitement, experienced amidst thrills and cheers. The most anticipated event of the year commenced with the arrival of the highly distinguished chief guest Shri Hanmant Tanaji Patil (Editorial Head Lokmat). Our Principal Swamini Pavanamritha Prana, Bri. Nayanamrita Chaitanya, Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam Baneshwar, Bri. Nischalamrita Chaitanya, Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam Hinjawadi, and Vice-principal Mrs. Indulekha Jayashankar were present on the dais. A large gathering of parents with their children were present to witness the grand event.
The day commenced by releasing balloons representing glory, and they rose merrily towards the azure skies. No program can ever take place without seeking the blessings of Amma, and the event started by lighting the lamp in front of Amma’s photo. Our Principal greeted the guests and dignitaries. Madam presented the annual report, and energized the young by urging them to turn every obstacle into an opportunity.
The torch symbolizes the light of spirit. The flame of peace and harmony is lit to remove darkness from the lives of all and brighten up the future. Torch bearer, Captain Asmi Dhanawade was followed by the students who have brought laurels in many sporting events. March past is one of the very important activities in official events of each nation, and it shows the country’s rich cultural heritage courage. The students of class IV marched majestically. We had prize distribution for winners of school competitions like drawing & coloring for classes LKG to V, fancy dress competition for classes LKG to II, and music competition for classes III to VIII, as well as the ‘Best Sportsman Trophy’ for the primary section. The chief guest Shri Hanmant Tanaji Patil addressed the students, saying that sports is a very important part of our lives. It develops qualities such as discipline, team spirit, healthy competition, and most important of all, the ability to endure failure. The programme started with a melodious song by our choir group students of classes III to V. Yoga is not a religion. It is a science of well-being, science of youthfulness, science of integrating body, mind and soul. Keeping this in mind, our students performed graceful yogasanas.
A bouquet of beautiful flowers came on to the ground to spread fragrance with a smile. Class I students performed a miracle drill with a fusion music beat. It was a great pleasure to watch the little ones of Class III put up a fascinating performance using an umbrella as prop.
The most awaited programme of the day was by our tiny-tots. They made a kite formation and performed an instrumental drill with fusion music. A robust mind and a lively body are the fundamental requirement to live a long and happy life. With this message, the Zumba display by Class V aimed to enlighten the audience about the merits of living a fit and healthy life,
promoting the initiative of ‘Fit India’.
Last but not least was a Hula Hoop performance by students of Class II, symbolizing the never-ending circle of life. They performed a musical drill with Hula Hoops.
At the closing ceremony, the vote of thanks was delivered to express gratitude towards the chief guests, dignitaries present on the dais and all the parents, followed by Vande Mataram. What we witnessed was surreal and it was a very memorable day for all the teachers, administrators and students who made the program very special.
