In recent times, the condition of rivers has deteriorated. This can be attributed to the increase in pollution as well as deforestation on a large scale. The Government of India initiated Social Forestry projects in the year 1976 to encourage afforestation, and has recently launched ‘Save River Project’ to save our rivers.
Our Amrita Vidyalayam students participated in this campaign with enthusiasm. Students took a pledge to save rivers. The school had also organized an essay writing competition on the theme ‘Saving Rivers – India’s Lifelines’ for students of Std. V to Std.VII.
