Our school celebrated International Mountaineering Day on 11th December. The occasion was graced by the presence of experienced mountaineers and veteran Sherpas from Nepal Himalayas – Dorchi Sherpa (7 times Everest summiteer, 2 times Mt. K2 summiteer), Mingma Sherpa (5 times Everest summiteer), Furba Sherpa (2 times Everest summiteer) and Tenzing Sherpa (summitted eight-thousanders like Mt. Makalu, Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Manaslu).
In his speech, Dhokale Sir talked about the important lessons of life that mountaineering teaches us. The Sherpas explained how success can be achieved by combining positive thinking and action.
Our principal madam also spoke on this occasion. She said that our body as well as our mind are recharged when we are amidst nature. She advised the students to learn from the Sherpas’ lives and also encouraged them to take the benefit of the mountaineering coaching given in our school.
