According to the Hindu Panchanga, Gita Jayanti falls on the day of Shukla Ekadashi of Margashirsha. The day is also called Moksha Ekadashi. It is on this day, Lord Krishna preached philosophy to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurushetra.
The school celebrated Gita Jayanti on 13th December. The Prinicpal, Brni. Pavanamritaji lit the lamp and the celebration began. Mrs. Nirmala Shinde anchored the programme.
Students posed on the stage as lord Krishna, Arjuna and other warriors, bringing to life the scene on the battlefield of Kurukshetra when lord Krishna preached the Gita to Arjuna.
Mrs. Minal Indore chanted a few shlokas in Sanskrit and explained their meaning. A speech was delivered by Kunal of std.VIII in Hindi, Revati of std.VII in Marathi and Ashmika Gupte of Std. VII in English. In their speech, the students highlighted how the Gita teaches their duties and to face difficult times with courage. The Gita inspired not only many Indian revolutionaries like Lokmanya Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi and Vivekanand but also many western thinkers, scientists and economists.
The programme concluded with the chanting of chapter 15 of the Bhagwad Gita.
