RAMAYANA MONTH CELEBRATION

Ramayana month is celebrated in the Karkidakam month in Kerala which is during the months of July and August. This year it will be followed from July 17th to August 16th, 2022.

It was followed in the ancient days because Karkidakam month was also known for dark clouds and heavy rains. Ramayana Parayana is done in every house in Kerala by lighting a lamp, which is considered auspicious and removes the obstacles in one’s life.

Every year our school follows this practice. This year also we started the celebration with lighting of the lamp by our Principal Swamini Pavanamritha Prana. The introduction was given by Mrs. Kala Nair, and Disha Pawar of Std. VIII spoke about Sage Valmiki, the author of the Ramayana. Every day, for the entire month, information about the different characters in the Ramayana will be given to the students, and some melodious songs will be sung based on that character. On the first day, Yashshree Jadhav of Std. IV sung a beautiful song based on the character, Sage Valmiki.

Ramayana helps one to find the right attitude towards Dharma and Karma. It is not just a story, but imparts important values such as love, respecting your family, keeping your promises, protecting the weak, and so on.
