Amrita Vidyalayam School celebrated Navratri with great enthusiasm and devotion, spanning nine days from October 15th to 24th, 2023. The entire school came together to celebrate this significant festival, which honours the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
The festivities commenced with the lighting of the lamp by our revered Principal Swamini Pavanamritha Prana, during the morning assembly. Her auspicious presence set the tone for the days ahead, and the entire school echoed with divine energy.
For the nine days of Navratri, the morning assembly held a special place in our hearts. All students and teaching staff gathered together to chant the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram (Ayi Giri Nandini), invoking the blessings and protection of Goddess Durga. The atmosphere resonated with devotion and spirituality.
A highlight of the celebration was a dance performance by the talented girls of Std. 9. They mesmerized the audience by portraying the nine avatars of Goddess Durga, beautifully showcasing the triumph of good over evil through the defeat of King Mahishasura. Their grace and dedication were truly commendable.
In addition to the avatars of Goddess Durga, students of Std. 9 also presented the traditional folk dance “Devi’s Gondhal” The colourful and vibrant performance transported the audience into the heart of traditional Indian culture, replete with rhythmic beats and traditional costumes. The event was seamlessly anchored by talented Vidya Miss and Akshara Kulkarni from Std. 8.
The grand finale of the celebration featured the college girls from Std. 11 and Std. 12, who treated everyone to an exuberant Garba and Dandiya Raas performance. The rhythmic beats, colourful attire, and infectious energy filled the air, and the entire school joined in the dance, creating a joyous atmosphere of unity and celebration.
It was a time of spiritual reflection, cultural enrichment, and, most importantly, a harmonious coming together of students, teachers, and staff.
It was a true reflection of the spirit of Navratri and the glory of Goddess Durga.
