NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY

Pure Maths in its own way is the Poetry of Logical Ideas.

December 22nd is celebrated as National Mathematics Day in India to honour one of the greatest mathematicians India has ever had – Srinivasa Ramanujan. The celebration aims at spreading awareness about the importance of Mathematics and the contributions made by Srinivasa Ramanujan in the field of Mathematics.

Mathematics day was celebrated with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of Mathematics in day-to-day life situations, as well as to create interest in studying Mathematics. In the school assembly, information about the Srinivasa Ramanujan was given by Aatreya Bhide of Std. IX and Tanushree Nande of Std. IV. In addition, Sanavi Totare of Std. V spoke about Shakuntala Devi, and Vedika Deshmukh and Soham Nagre of Std. IX spoke about Aryabhatta. Disha Pawar of Std. VIII shared her views on everyday Maths, and students of Std. III and Std. IV presented an action song on Mathematics.

“Speak to me I will learn, teach me I will understand, guide me to do I will remember it forever.”

Keeping this in mind, on 22nd December, a Mathematics Exhibition was held at Amrita Vidyalayam School & Jr. College. The exhibition started with lighting the lamp by Vice Principal Indulekha Madam. Students enthusiastically participated in the exhibition, presenting amazing still and working models on various topics.

Students of KG classes also participated in the exhibition. Some of them presented and explained the models made by them on different topics. These exhibits were monitored and made under the guidance of their teachers. Students from KG to Srd. X were taken by their teachers to see and appreciate the hard work put in by their fellow students. The exhibition gave the students exposure as well as the confidence to present their thoughts and ideas.

Mathematics may not teach us how to add happiness or minus sorrow, but it does teach one important thing – that every PROBLEM has a SOLUTION!”
