Amma’s Saptati, a momentous occasion for us all, celebrates her selfless life of love and service. During the five days of Sevana Vaaram, Amrita family members across schools and campuses honoured her legacy through various meaningful activities.
The first activity was doctors’ lectures on menstrual hygiene and adolescence, and how to live a healthy life. Amrita Vidyalayam hosted two insightful lectures. Dr. Preeti Phutane enlightened girls of Std. 8 to Std. 10 on menstrual hygiene and adolescence, emphasizing holistic health and value education. On the same day one more lecture was conducted by Dr. Supriya Biradar, a government hospital doctor, who engaged the students in a lecture on hygiene and healthy living. She highlighted the importance of organ donation. Under the guidance of the doctors, our teachers took a pledge on organ donation, a crucial component of the Ayushman Bhava campaign initiated by the Ministry of Health, and inaugurated by President Draupadi Murmu on September 17th.
The second activity was “Serving the visually impaired”. Our school extended a warm welcome to visually impaired children. An enriching question-answer session bridged the gap between differently abled students and our Std. 9 students, facilitated by our teachers. The highlight of the day was an entertainment program featuring Marathi and Hindi songs, Bharud, and Powada performed by our music teacher and three talented students. The differently abled children also showcased their remarkable singing talents. In a heart-warming gesture, blankets were distributed to the students as a token of love from Amma.
The third activity was “Save the Environment“. Our school embarked on a noble mission under the banner of “Save the Environment”. Located amidst the picturesque Baner Hills, this event witnessed the active participation of 35 enthusiastic students. Guided by the “Sevanavaram” initiative, we undertook the remarkable task of transforming barren land into a mini forest by planting saplings, reflecting our commitment to preserving the environment. In addition to our tree plantation endeavour, we organized an enlightening lecture on environmental conservation. Esteemed speakers Sudhir Marulkar and Deepak Tapas delivered insightful talks, commencing with the ribbon-cutting ceremony by Sudhir Marulkar. This event marked a significant step in our ongoing commitment to protect and nurture our precious environment.
Last but not least, our fourth activity was the “Exhibition of Posters“, a testament to Amma’s global benevolence which unfolded with grandeur as Sudhir Marulkar sir inaugurated it by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. The exhibit offered a visual symphony, merging Amma’s charitable endeavours with a passionate call to save the environment. Each poster resonated with compassion and urgency, portraying Amma’s tireless dedication to humanity and the planet. It was a harmonious blend of philanthropy and environmental consciousness, leaving a profound impact on all who attended. The exhibition served as a poignant reminder of our responsibility to emulate Amma’s noble mission to heal both hearts and the Earth.
