The Annual Day celebrations for this academic year were held on the 19th and 21st of January.
Col. Ajit Dutt, Chairman of National Sport Climbing Committee IMF was the chief guest on the 19th, and Prof. Shailaja Sangle graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The programme began with lighting of the lamp. Principal, Brni. Pavanamrita Chaitanyaji presented the Annual Report. The chief guest then addressed students and parents, speaking to them about developing endurance, not being afraid of failure and setting definite goals in life. Prof. Shailaja Sangle, in her speech, spoke to the parents about the importance of spending quality time with their children. A video on Amrita Sport Climbing was shown, highlighting the achievements of students in sport climbing under the guidance of our coach, Everest Summiteer Shri Krishna Dhokale. This was followed by prize distribution ceremony. A variety of cultural programmes were presented by students from LKG through Standard IV on the theme, ‘Importance of Relationships’, highlighting the importance of mother, father, teachers as well as soldiers. The programmes were appreciated by all, and the day ended with vote of thanks.
On the 21st, famous ecologist and Padmabhushan awardee, Dr. Madhav Gadgil was invited as the chief guest. In his speech, he spoke about the importance of keeping the city clean and green, and spreading awareness about saving trees. He stressed that conservation of the environment is everyone’s responsibility, and that it is not essential to cut trees for the development of mankind. Dr. Gadgil appealed to all present to lend a hand in saving the environment and to take up tree planting programmes. Poojya Swami Vidyamritananda Puri, Mathadhipati of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Pune, also addressed the audience. He spoke to the parents about paying special attention to the development of their children. A variety of cultural programmes were presented by students from the secondary and higher secondary sections of the school on the theme, ‘Sarv Dharma Sama Bhava’ – secularism, giving equal respect to all religions. All the performances were applauded by the audience. The programme concluded with vote of thanks.
